Cape Town Calling: Inside Our Photoshoot Hunt for Magic and Light
This season, we’re trading our desks and mood boards for dusty roads and golden light traveling to South Africa in search of the most breathtaking, child-friendly locations to photograph our upcoming collection. Cape Town, with its wild beauty and soft light feels like a dream.
We started in the quiet corners of Llandudno Beach, where the ocean meets the sand with a hush, and little footprints tell stories we never want to forget. The pastel charm of Bo Kaap made our hearts skip, bright walls, cobbled streets, and a sense of play that feels just right for our little models. In Kirstenbosch Gardens, the calm green spaces offered room to run, twirl, and play, just how we like it: natural, unforced, and full of joy.
And then, a little detour into wonder, a beautiful safari location, where the backdrop is acacia trees, golden grass, and the sound of nature all around. We’re always looking for those in between moments: a giggle, a glance, a child lost in imagination. These are the images that tell our story.
We travel with little ones, so every spot we scout must be more than beautiful, it must feel safe, open, and made for play. We never force smiles or poses; the most magical photos come when children are just being themselves, unaware of the lens, lost in a moment.
A Few of Our Favourite Tips for Photographing Children Naturally:
• Make it a game. A plush toy, a silly hat, or a funny voice can turn nerves into laughter instantly.
• Use golden hours. Early morning or just before sunset offers soft, warm light, perfect for delicate skin tones.
• Let them move. Dancing, jumping, collecting flowers, movement brings soul to every shot.
• Keep things cozy. Bring snacks, layers, and a favourite toy. A comfortable child is a happy one.
• Stay present. The best photos are often taken in the seconds between poses, the laughs, the glances, the quiet magic.
